For those who read this and follow me on Instagram, you know that I will be doing Jinx from Arcane and Medic from Team Fortress 2 for MAGFest this year. They are also some characters that I've been working on some props for to bring. For Jinx, I'm bringing her small gun, Zapper, and Fishbones. For Medic, I'll have his Medi-Pack and the bone saw. Here is an update on what I've been doing for the both of them, and where I am at.

For Jinx's weapons, I've been using some templates that have been really helpful. Fishbones comes from the cosplayer The Insanity Project and Zapper comes from JJubsCosplay. While I'll review their templates in other posts down the line, I've used both of to relatively good success. Both have been made using a variety of EVA foam bought from Hobby Lobby (say what you want about them, but they have quick access to nice high-density EVA foam) and Blick. For Zapper, it's been made primarily with the foam bought from Blick, and Fishbones has used a mix of both. At the time of writing this, Zapper is 100% complete! You can see the finished progress in both the top photo and the photos below. I didn't manage to take a lot of photos of Zapper, but for Fishbones, I do have a lot more.

Fishbones base construction is mostly complete. I need to glue one more piece down (which will be the day this is published), and then I can move onto the painting stage. While some sections of Fishbones are more squished together than I would like them to be, it still has all the distinct pieces on it. For a bigger cosplay prop of mine, I like how it turned out.

I will be honest, I am a little bit behind with the Medi-Pack and the bone saw for Medic. They shouldn't take too long, as most of the pieces are easy to cut out. I used a shoebox to trace the base of the Medi-Pack and glued all the pieces together. I measured out the length and width of the box to make pieces that will serve as the top and bottom. I'll make the pipes and other main pieces out of the foam that I have which can make gluing it all down and finishing the base happen later today. The bone saw I am not worried about too much either. I'll cut out the shapes from both my ticker foam from the handle and the blade from a thinner piece of foam and attach them together.

Other updates on these props will come via my Instagram during MAGFest. That is when I plan to wear both these cosplays, and I'll do short reels that will document a little bit more about them. Photos and reels will start appearing from MAGFest from January 23rd to 26th. All these props have been fun to make so far, and I'm really happy that I've been able to accomplish all of these in the time span that I've had. I plan to take good care of these props as well so I can use them for multiple cons in the future.
